What is P.O.W.E.R.?
P.O.W.E.R. stands for Peers Offering Wellness Education Resources.We are a group of Michigan Tech students working for Counseling and Wellness Services. We have been around for over eight years.

What does P.O.W.E.R do?
We give presentations and workshopes about health and wellness-related issues. We are also involved in events such as National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week, Winter Carnival, Spring Fling, National Eating Disorders Week and many others. Our primary goal is to promote wellness education on campus.

We give our presentations to a wide variety of groups, including

  • Fraternities
  • Sororities
  • Residence Halls
  • Student Clubs
  • Off Campus Groups
We offer presentations on a wide variety of topics, including

  • Alcohol Abuse (including the CD program Alcohol 101 )
  • Drug Abuse
  • Date Rape
  • Depression
  • Eating Disorders
  • Nutrition
  • Physical Fitness
  • Seasonal Affective Disorder ( S.A.D. )
  • Stress Management
  • Study Skills
  • Time Management
  • Assertiveness Training

Our presentations can be formal or informal, depending on the audience. We can present for almost any length of time, depending on the audience.

We are also able to put together informational programs based on the individual needs of any group.

Where is P.O.W.E.R located?
We are located in the office of Counseling Services, in Hamar House on the Michigan Tech campus. Hamar House is the "little white house" across from Fisher (see the picture of it at the upper left hand corner of this webpage). The office is open weekdays form 8am-noon, and from 1pm-5pm.
