Relationship Issues

A large number of Michigan Tech students come into Counseling Services, not for help about themselves exactly, but rather for help with a particular relationship they are in.

Whether it is with boyfriends, girlfriends, male or female friends, roomates, Greek brothers or sisters, somebody in your residence hall or in a class of yours, with an RA, TA, professor, parent or with a friend back home, problems in a relationship can be a tremendous stressor. They can easily derail your hopes and plans for academic accomplishment while you are here at Michigan Tech. Even if your academic plans are not significantly disrupted by relationship problems while you are here at MTU, relationship troubles can easily spoil the satisfaction you might otherwise enjoy during the term or the academic year if they persist and are complicated enough.

Coming into Counseling Services can be a real boost when it comes to sorting out relationship difficulties that otherwise might take weeks, months or years to clear up, or when it comes to saving a valued relationship that might otherwise break up unnecessarily.
