AIDS and other STDs

Michigan Tech Counseling Services strongly encourages students to educate themselves as much as possible about AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases (STD's) such as chalymidia, gonnorrhea, syphilis, venereal warts, crab lice and the like.

Michigan Tech Counseling Services has a number of brochures available which describe the basic sexually transmitted diseases, what their primary symptoms are, and how best to protect yourself from infection. In addition, Counseling Services also maintains a library which has some books available for loan and videos available for in-house viewing which discuss AIDS and the other STD's in the context of safe sex awareness.

Counseling Services works closely with Portage Health Services in promoting safe sex awareness and practice.

Completely confidential HIV and STD testing is available to students through the Western Upper Peninsula District Health Department at 482-7382.

If you have worries or concerns regarding AIDS or any other STD, call and make an appointment at Counseling Services immediately.
